What is Invisalign First?

Invisalign First aligners are similar to those for teens or adults, except they are designed to accommodate the development of children's permanent teeth as they erupt.

Guiding children's teeth into the correct positions as they grow in may lessen or eliminate the need for more extensive or invasive orthodontic treatment when they are older.

Invisalign First treatment can be used to correct early dental issues like arch development and expansion, tooth spacing, crowding and protrusions, and to improve the overall appearance of the smile.

Invisalign First is a Phase 1 orthodontic treatment, meaning it is designed specifically for children ages 6 to 10. At this stage, our North Vancouver orthodontist is able to identify issues that may benefit early treatment to address a developing problem.

How does it work?

Invisalign First aligners are custom-designed for each child's unique mouth.

By applying gentle pressure to a child's dental arch, the aligners achieve dental arch expansion or an increase of the width of the child's dental arch. This allows for more room for the child's permanent teeth.

During treatment, the device will shift your child’s teeth into their new, correct positions. Depending on the nature of your child’s misalignment, they may require either a pair of aligners (for both the upper and lower jaw) or just one aligner.
